Warangal: Women empowerment is high on Congress’ agenda, Warangal East candidate of the People’s Front Vaddiraj Ravichandra said. Speaking to the women, who joined the Congress at the party office here on Monday, he said that Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) during its four-and-a-half-year rule didn’t give prominence to women.

“K Chandrashekar Rao Cabinet didn’t even have a single woman minister. Such was the KCR government’s concern towards women. None of the TRS leaders have guts to raise the injustice meted out to the women legislators,” Ravichandra said. The TRS chief, who promised fair share of representation in the governance, conveniently forgotten his promise, he said. This apart, the TRS government never bothered about empowering the women, he added.

He criticised the TRS government for failing to deliver their promise of providing employment to the youth. “KCR, who promised to provide one job to every household in the State, failed to provide even one job for one village,” Ravichandra criticised. It was not the Telangana for which all sections of people especially students fought, he said.

“The Congress, if voted to power, will initiate measures to provide one lakh government jobs besides encouraging self-employment,” he said. Ravichandra said that the TRS government, which redesigned the irrigation projects launched by the previous Congress government, is wasting people’s money.

He alleged that alleged that only KCR’s family was cornering all the benefits in the State. During his door-to-door campaign in Rangasaipet and Fort (East) areas, Ravichandra told the residents that Congress alone can fulfill the aspirations of the people. He urged the residents to teach a fitting lesson to the TRS for disappointing the region’s people.

“There was no development in Warangal city, this despite the availability of funds,” he said, attributing it as the lack of commitment on part of the people’s representatives of the TRS.
