​Hyderabad: Rachakonda, Cyberabad and Hyderabad Commissionerates are all set for the polling day i.e., 7 December. Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, Cyberabad Commissioner V C Sajjanar, and Rachakonda Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat on Wednesday said that the security arrangements are in place for the peaceful conduct of polls.
Arrangements in Hyderabad Commissionerate limits
City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that 15 Assembly constituencies fall under the city limits and four assembly constituencies partially fall under neighbouring Cyberabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates. A total of 3,911 polling stations in 1,574 polling locations were arranged in the city limits. 161 S1 polling stations, 334 S2 and 21 S3 locations, he added. He said that the police identified 17 police stations as vulnerable hamlets. Totally 426 police routes were planned, three static surveillance teams (SST) and three flying squads (FS) will be working round the clock in each assembly constituency to address Model Code of Conduct violations and expenditure monitoring.
These SST and FS will be covering all the election rallies, programmes, road shows and record major political party meetings. 60 QRT and 17 SSF teams have been formed. 2 inter boarder check posts are functioning and 51 check posts will be working on the day of polling at different places. 302 law and order pickets are placed. 93 interception teams are formed, and 60 shadow teams are formed in each constituency, he said. On December 7, a total of 518 check posts and pickets will be functioning. They have conducted 126 flag march, 98 route march, 146 vehicles checking and confidence building, and cordon and search operations.
Security arrangements were made at 15 distribution, reception and counting centres with CAPF Enforcement work. The police have seized net cash of Rs 27.3 crore, gold and silver worth Rs 2.41 crore and other items worth Rs 1.28 crore.
Police personnel deployed for election duty would include city force 14,645, CAPF 2,200 (22 companies) ODs 1000, in total 17,845 police personnel will be deployed. 15 Nodal Officers identified for 15 Assembly constituencies at the rank of ACP. All the nodal officers and concerned police officers have visited each polling station, made their obstructions with regard to accessibility, condition of building, sensitivity of areas and analysed the criticality of polling station.
Arrangements in Rachakonda Commissionerate limits
According to Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat, total number of voters is 27,67,269 which includes male 14,29,625, female 13,37,329 and others 315. Rachakonda consists of three zones, eight divisions and 42 law and order police stations. Seven Assembly constituencies Alair, Bhongir, Malkajgiri, Uppal, LB Nagar, Ibrahimpatnam and Maheswaram fall fully under its limits and six Assembly constituencies Medchal, Kalwakurthy, Yakathpura, Munugodu, Nakrekal, and Thungathurthy fall under other units.
Out of 1,483 polling locations 214 are critical and 1269 are normal. Out of 3,073 polling stations 517 are critical and 2,556 are normal. 263 mobile routes, 27 flying squads, 27 static surveillance teams and 11 check posts were formed, he said. A total of 12,000 officers and police personnel of all ranks were deployed. Counting will be conducted at Holy Mary College at Keesara and Aurora Engineering College at Bhongir.
They have taken 549 rowdies and communal offenders into custody and detained 85 under PD Act. A total of 31 MCC cases, six poll violence cases and four SC/ST cases were registered, he added. Reserve force consisting of three DCPs, one Joint CP and one CP has been arranged to meet any emergencies. Out of 59,000 odd CCTVs working in the Commissionerate, certain cameras which were in and around the polling locations have been refocused to cover the polling stations and its reachable routes. Three four-wheelers have been fitted with high end PTZ cameras and deployed in three zones to monitor any law and order problem.
Arrangements in Cyberabad Commissionerate limits
According to Cyberabad CP V C Sajjanar, out of 13 assembly constituencies four assembly constituencies Quthbullapur, Rajendranagar, Serilingampally and Shadnagar fall fully under it and other nine constituencies Patancheru, Medchal, Malkajgiri, Kukatpally, Chevella, Jubilee Hills, Sanathnagar, Kalwakurthy and Bahadurpura fall partially under its limits. Total voters is 24,53,341 including male 13,61,723, female 11,03,117 and others 286.
Cyberabad consists of three zones, nine divisions and 36 law and order police stations. Total polling locations are 1078, polling stations 2867 out of which normal are 926 and critical are 152. Mobile routes 237, flying squads 21, static surveillance teams 21, check posts 26 were formed for peaceful conduct of elections. 12,000 officers and police personnel of all ranks were deployed. In addition to the Cyberabad police 3,000 policemen from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Odisha will be deployed on the election duty.
