Khilwat: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) concluded its campaign with a grand public meeting at Khilwat Ground near Shalibanda, amidst cheering of the young party workers and followers. MLAs from Maharasthra, Waris Pathan (Bycalla MLA) and Dr Imtiyaz Jaleel from Aurangabad also attended the meeting, along with party workers.
MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi with his vociferous speech enthused the youth that remained the major strength of the party for last two decades. Taking credit for various schemes initiated by the TRS government, he held that continuous representation by the party was behind the state government’s decision to increase the minority budget, overseas scholarship and declaration of Urdu as the second official language. Akbaruddin also claimed that the party has protected the Wakf properties, citing the example of about 50 acres attached to Hazrath Faqeermullah Shah that was converted into much needed graveyard for locals recently. “250 blocks were made in this graveyard to ensure proper burial of the people of the Old City, besides provision of free transportation. This is what Majlis is doing and due to this kind of welfare activities no other party can defeat it,” he said.
On the welfare measures, he said Asra Hospital, which could not provide ample beds for the patients now has more than 1,000 beds. Similarly, Owaisi Hospital was also providing more than 1,000 beds for patients. The banking services like Darussalam Bank will also be increasing its branches from existing 9 branches; he said and reiterated the claims that MIM was working for the welfare. “For all those who question us as to what this party did, I challenge them to come up with similar measures taken up by them, and I will cross question them as to what they did? Party has created the atmosphere of development, but some are unable to digest this and they are trying to disturb the development process, he said.
On the issue of the Alair encounter, he said that the only Muslims body that continued to raise the question was Majlis, and that it also supports the innocent people in Mecca Masjid bomb blast case. Majlis will be the one that will bring justice to innocent of Alair encounter, he asserted. Akbaruddin also challenged Praja Kutami to make clear whether they were ready to provide reservation of 12 per cent to Muslims within 40 days or 4 months, if they come to power. While they continue to speak about the issue, none of the leaders were ready to promise to such a provision, he added. “The agenda of Congress remains ideology of Nehru, Gandhi and objective of achieving Hindustan’s Gaddi (seat). BJP's agenda remains Hindu, Hindutva and Hindurastra, and Majlis agenda is Hindustan, Hindustan’s development and the Happiness of Hindustan,” he said and asked, “Where is secularism here or there?”
