Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee has got ready to fight the electoral battle on Friday. The Congress candidates said they have left no stone unturned to ensure that the people would turn up in large numbers to exercise their franchise and vote for them.

Among those in the fray included TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leader of Opposition in dissolved Assembly K Jana Reddy, Leader of Opposition in the Council Shabbir Ali, TPCC working presidents Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, A Revanth Reddy, former Ministers P Laxmaiah, Geetha Reddy, D K Aruna and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.

The Congress, which conducted a high-decibel campaign for the past two weeks now turned its focus on polling to ensure the momentum built is not lost. The candidates put in place poll managers at mandal and village level. They completed the appointment of booth agents and called on the booth-level leaders to ensure good turnout.

The Congress leaders believe that increase in poll percentage would be an advantage to it. Increase in polling percentage indicates undercurrents of discontent, it is believed. Party nominees have taken measures to instil confidence among voters to ensure that the electorate exercise their franchise without fear. They have been lodging complaints against their rivals to the Election Commission to check illegal activities.

A senior leader of the party exuded confidence that with the satisfactory campaign the trend has turned in their favour. The leader said that the campaign of AICC president Rahul Gandhi, Telugu Desam party national president N Chandrababu Naidu, several veteran film stars, top leaders of the TPCC attracted the attention of the people.

He said that the efforts of the party to take the programme to be implemented by People’s Front government, after coming to power, have yielded results. The voters have shown much interest in Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver, grant of Rs 5 lakh to homeless to construct 2BHK houses and others. The Congress leaders felt that they have succeeded in exposing the failures of the ruling party and in raising the anger among the people against the government.
