Chanchalguda: What appears to be a case of ‘road rage’ in the late-night hours involving MBT leader and men in inebriated condition created a flutter on the social media. During the argument, a group of men allegedly invoked the name of T Raja Singh, former MLA of Goshamahal.
The incident which took place in the late-night hours in front of the newly-opened Peshawar restaurant in Lakdikapul, caught the attention of the political circles due to involvement of big names of local politics. According to the complainant, MBT spokesman Amjedullah Khan, he was passing through Lakdikapul on his way to Old City from Hi-tech City from a relative’s place. However, after he reached Lakdikapul, he slowed down his vehicle to respond to gesture of ‘salam’ from someone known to him.
Nonetheless, all of a sudden some people from backside started shouting and abusing. “I questioned them as to whom they were talking to, but they continued abusing, presumably in an inebriated condition. Then I stopped my car and got off and started taking photos and video and questioned as to who they were. They also came down from the vehicle and tried to attack me, even as the locals came to my rescue and caught hold of them. They were shouting ‘call Raja Singh’. In the melee, all but one, escaped and he was caught and handed over to police,” he informed.
Amjedullah Khan said that even though he didn’t want to blow up the issue, but the matter took the serious turn when they invoked the name of Raja Singh, with whom he has rivalry for long. Explaining the turn of events, he further said that he immediately called the Saifabad inspector. Even as he was coping with the men inside one vehicle, another vehicle came by and over a dozen persons could be seen at the spot. “As the motive behind this sudden appearance of about 15 men is not known, I had to inform the police. I urge the police to investigate, if this is a case of road rage or motivated attack. As they were in inebriated condition nothing can be said, if they had any direct relation with Raja Singh,” he explained.
The MBT leader was earlier attacked allegedly by his political detractors in Banjara Hills, Saidabad, Malakpet. He has been regularly getting threat calls from alleged ‘henchmen’ of Raja Singh following his recent political speech in Yakutpura’s Bada Bazar for which he also lodged complaint in Dabeerpura police station. Earlier, he made several complaints against provocative speeches of Raja Singh to police prompting them to send notices.
Speaking to The Hans India, Ch Saidi Reddy, Saifabad Inspector, said that there was no political motive behind the incident. “They were in an inebriated condition and were furious due to slowing down of the vehicle in front of them. It is a petty issue, which has been resolved and there are no premeditated attack and political motive,” he clarified.
