Accepting the recent defeat in the Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders while addressing a press meet in Mahbubnagar on Tuesday, said that they would abide by the verdict given by the people of Telangana in the recently concluded assembly elections, however, would stay with the people until the TRS government fully implements all the promises it had made in its party manifesto
Mahbubnagar: Accepting the recent defeat in the Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders while addressing a press meet in Mahbubnagar on Tuesday, said that they would abide by the verdict given by the people of Telangana in the recently concluded assembly elections, however, would stay with the people until the TRS government fully implements all the promises it had made in its party manifesto.
“We whole heartedly accept the verdict given by the people of Telangana in the recently concluded Assembly elections. But we will stay with the people and fight for their rights and will not relent until this government implements all its promises to the people,” said Shanta Kumar, BJP Treasurer, Telangana.
While alleging that the TRS party had won these elections unethically by flooding liquor and spending money like anything, Shanta Kumar said, “Though TRS party might have won these elections but ethically they have lost it because they spilled liquor and spent huge amount of money to achieve success at the hustings.”
The BJP treasurer said that they will adopt a different strategy for the upcoming parliamentary elections and will see that their national president Amit Shah will tour the Telangana State intensely and hold meetings at maximum number of places.
While commenting on the failure of the opposition Praja Kutami in the State, the BJP leader felt that the main reason for the Kutami’s defeat was Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. “How can the people of Telangana forget Chandrababu Naidu who had created hurdles in the formation of Telangana at every stage? Despite knowing this the Congress party and the Kutami allies forged an alliance with the TDP. Since people did not belief in the words of Kutami leaders, the alliance had to lose the elections with huge margins,” observed Shantakumar.
Adding further, Shantakumar said that the people opposed TDP because, its chief Babu opposed the Telangana irrigation projects and as he had written letters to central Water Commission to stop the PRRLI and other projects. This lead to disbelief among the people over the Praja Kutami leaders who had an alliance with TDP and helped the TRS to win with a thumping majority.
Referring to the recent losses of BJP party in three States of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, the BJP leader opined that these elections were not considered as a referendum to the BJP government at the Centre. The Assembly elections are different from Parliament elections. We cannot take the results of the Assembly elections as a referendum to the rule of central government. This time BJP party will adopt an effective strategy and will achieve better results in the parliamentary elections in the coming days, he added.
He said very soon BJP president Amit Shah will visit Telangana and revamp the election campaigning and hoped that the BJP will emerge victorious in the Parliament elections that are soon to be held in 2019.
BJP district president Padmaja Reddy and party leaders Kondaiah, Nagurao Namoji, Padakule Satyam, Srinivas Reddy, Mutyala Tirupathi Reddy and others participated in the press meet.
