Hyderabad: From the last three consecutive days, the city of pearls is witnessing the gradual decrease in temperatures leaving the denizens shiver day and night and the foggy weather making the way harder for the commuters. The temperatures are recording as low as 19 and 18 degree Celsius in the city and as well as in rural areas of Telangana due to the Cyclone Phethai. While it is very difficult to warm up oneself in these cold weathers, the mothers of new-born babies are worried a lot of spreading viral diseases. They are doing their best by covering their babies with warm clothes and not exposing to the outside weather.

Paediatrician, Dr Sharmila Kaza said, “During any cold weather condition, parents should not expose their children (especially who are suffering from respiratory illness) to cold weather and products which may result health issues. Cold air triggers an allergy in the kids who had respiratory problems,” She said that during cold weather conditions, the viruses are more in circulation and makes children fell ill very easily.

Reacting to the necessary precautions that should be taken care of one-month-old babies in the cold weather situations, she said, “For babies of one month, we need to use the room heaters to warm them up because the temperature maintenance of the body is very immature in one month-old-babies. It is a flu season, we make sure that our babies get immunized with flu vaccine accordingly to keep them safe and healthy,” She said that there is no pre-medication required for the children and advised parents to cover them up with warm clothes during the winter season.
