Siddipet: As many as 61 MLAs and MLCs, along with 25 IAS officers, from 15 states visited Ibrahimpur Village in Ranga Reddy District on Thursday. They praised villagers for their social awareness and for their desire to develop their village. They admired the way they transformed the village with collective decisions and by conducting ‘Grama Sabhas.’

The team commended the efforts of the village in construction of water harvesting pits, cattle sheds and the maintenance of Haritha Haram and sustainable agriculture. The visit to the national award-winning village was arranged by the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD). The village was adopted by former Minister and present MLA-Elect T Harish Rao. Villagers gave a warm welcome to the team, and they spent three hours in the village. They went around the village and observed various developmental activities taken up by the government. They were impressed by the progress made in the village and heaped praises on Harish Rao. The team said that the benefits of development are clearly seen in villagers, and that Hairsh Rao is an ideal leader.

The minister himself took the team to various places in the villages and explained them about the various developments taken place in the village. The team expressed happy over the visit. They observed the water harvesting pits, two-bedroom housing scheme, plantation, CC Roads, park, drinking water supply, model panchayat building and Vykuntadhamam. They interacted with the villagers about maintaining personal hygiene. Local leader Ellareddy explained about conducting grama sabhas, and the schemes leading to women empowerment. The team enquired about the agriculture practices and expressed happiness over visiting the village. The village has been implementing 26 works under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNRRGS), and it is the first South Indian village in digital transactions. The village also planted as many as two-lakh saplings in the presence of governor.

Speaking on the occasion, Speaker of Haryana Assembly Kanwar Pal Gujjar praised the people of the village for their unity in the management of water. “You utilised the government schemes efficiently. The country develops when villages progress. I am very happy for visiting the village. The village stands for unity and development,” Gujjar said. Members of the visiting team felt that special acts should be enacted to implement such development activities. They enquired the strategies for better administration at village level. They also wondered how a backward village could reach to the level it did. Harish Rao said people of Ibrahimpur were lucky. People’s representatives from across the country visited the village to learn about rural development, which is inspirational, he said. Harish called upon the people to continue the spirit and progress further.
