A woman branded her 4-year-old stepdaughter Himaja after she cried for food in Gachibowli on Friday.
Himaja's father Shivaji moved to Hyderabad for work from Macharla of Guntur district. He has been residing in Gachibowli along with his three kids and second wife Dhana Lakshmi. According to the police, Shivaji married his wife's sister Dhanalakshmi after she committed suicide last year. Ever since her marriage, Dhanalakshmi would harass her sister's kids Yogitha (6), Himaja (4) and Yogeshwar Rao (3).
On Friday, when her mother-in-law learned her cruelty, she brought the incident to the notice of neighbours. Based on the complaint registered by Children rights commission, the police registered a case and shifted Himaja to Niloufer hospital.
