Adilabad: As the deadline for panchayat elections fast approaching, village politics is getting heated up in Adilabad district as leaders of various political parties and district officials are opting for unanimous election of all categories of reservation. Village development committees have been implementing this phenomenon.

Earlier, the elections to 35 out of the total 243 gram panchayats in the district were unanimous. Now the number of panchayats is increased to 467, with the newly formed gram panchayats.

The prospects of unanimity are seeming to be far higher in more than half of the agency. Leaders began to work on behalf of the people and candidates.

Gram panchayat development committees, which are crucial in village administration, are focusing on the latest panchayat elections. Unanimous elections is a best chance for the villages to further develop as the government will give a cash reward of Rs 15 lakhs for those panchayats with more than 5,000 population and Rs 10 lakh to panchayats with less than 5,000 population.

Leaders have focussed their attention on the newly formed gram panchayats. Whereas the TRS leaders are claiming that the new panchayats were formed with their initiative while other parties were arguing that the panchayats were formed by the public demand.
