Hyderabad: TRS working president K T Rama Rao on Monday pacified a group of his party leaders from Ramagundam when they raised slogans against their own party leader Somarapu Satyanarayana. The occasion was admission of Independent MLA-elect K Chander into TRS in the presence of former MLA Somarapu Satyanarayana. As Satyanarayana stood to speak, the followers of MLA-elect Chander raised slogans stating ‘no, no.’
Intervening to bring the meeting to order, Rama Rao said Satyanarayana was a senior leader and he exhorted the party activists to show respect to him. Satyanarayana said that he was happy that he had lost to a candidate who was from TRS (Chander has been with the party since the beginning) and not from Congress. He said people would elect MLAs and they decide who should be an MLA.
Once again when KTR was about to speak, the crowd raised slogans of ‘CM’... ‘CM’ but this time he cautioned them showing the picture of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and saying CM is there. When KTR said that he was happy to see both Chander and Satyanarayana were working together, the crowd again raised slogans ‘No.’ KTR said Satyanarayana was also an independent MLA earlier and he would help Chander in making Ramagundam a model constituency and added that Satyanarayana was favourite of Chief Minister KCR. He said if both Chander and Satyanarayana can work together, it would help the party become stronger.
The votes polled to Chander (64,000) and Satyanarayana (35,000) are added up, the TRS candidate in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election would secure close to one lakh majority. KTR urged the young TRS MLA to be humble. “Don’t be hasty as you are an MLA now. There should be no hastiness in politics. It will not work if you want to dictate. Shed enmity and start a new chapter,” said Rama Rao to the Ramagundam MLA-elect.
