An artist since her childhood SravyaKothalanka is certainly an inspiration to many young women who choose to pursue their dreams as career. Having a grip on art, a melodious voice that enthralls listeners, gives her an edge as a multifaceted artist. The upcoming artist, who is steadily becoming popular, is also making a promising entry into the music world with a debut in playback singing and independent albums. She shares her experiences and work in an exclusive interview.

Tell us about yourself
I studied in St Francis school and Bhavans New Science college. I completed my bachelor's in Geology, a year ago. I am a Telugu girl and I've lived in Hyderabad all my life.

What has drawn you to art?
Art was always there. Along with art,I started to learnKuchipudidance when I was five, and music came along.

Tell us about Kothalanka Project
It's just my ensemble, when I perform with the band or when I release my English music.

What has made you a creative person?
I like to keep constantly knowing and learning and evolving. That has kept me going to dig deep into my heart and brain. That's how I'm creative (I guess)

What was challenging about your work?
There are multiple challenges. But I've passed every bump on the road very bravely. So, I don't have anything pricking me personally. One thing is that the music industry isn't run by musicians, it's run by businessmen and it's sad. If that changes, it would be great.

You depict yourself as Goddess Kali and paint her portraits. Can you elaborate more about this?
I have the most amazing friends in the world. It was they who depicted me as Kali. Then I painted myself as Kali and that seemed to settle quite well. I'm grounded, but I know I'm powerful. And when I think of me as Kali, I know I can destroy all the evil in my power and that gets depicted in my works.

Did any of the music directors approach you from the film industry?
Yes!Pellichoopulu fame music director Vivek Sagar. He happened to find my voice interesting and asked me to record. I sang for a yet to release film ‘Mithai’. The song "Idem Life Ra" is already released.

What does future hold?
I'd say I'll do what comes my way. Live life to the fullest. There are a couple of singles coming out. Another playback project too. Let's make it a good surprise.
