Musheerabad: Senior member of Telangana BC Commission, Dr V Krishna Mohan Rao, said that the real progress of any nation is possible when women excel in every sector. He was speaking at a programme organized by women’s organisation Mahila Shakthi at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram, Baghlingampally, on Thursday, to release their 2019 calendar.

Rao hoped that the women reservation bill would be passed to give representation proportionate to their population. Democratic system would bloom only when women are empowered, he said. While the women were given dominant positions during the Vedic era, the status of women gradually declined with the rise of superstitions. But with changing circumstances, modern woman is able to compete with men, and it is a good sign of progress, he felt.

President of Mahila Shakthi C Anuradha presided the meeting. Among those who attended the meeting include noted social activist PN Murthy, recipient of national youth award A Kiran Kumar, advocate Rekha, Dasharatha Lakshmi, Mani Manjari, P Vishalakshi, PS Sushila, A Suvarna, T Bhavani, A Ramadevi, N Sunitha Reddy, B Chaya Rao, Shashi Bala, M Vasundara Rao, K Lavanya Choudhari, KV Malleshwari Naidu, women representatives from various districts and others.
