Mahbubnagar: The Mahbubnagar police have achieved a big breakthrough and arrested six persons on Monday who were involved in the attempt to murder case of a person named Ashappa (45) on January 9 on the outskirts of Marikal mandal.
According to Superintendent of Police Rema Rajeshwari, the special teams which were formed to nab the culprits have succeeded in arresting six culprits out of 11 accused who were involved in the incident. The arrested were identified as Vijay Kumar, Nagesh, Anjaneyulu, Siddharth, Prashanth and Sravan Goud. The remaining persons are still absconding and the police are taking all steps to arrest them soon.
The police said Vijay Kumar, the main culprit, bore a grudge against Ashappa of Abhangapur village from Narayanpet mandal relating to some land disputes for the last few years. It is also said that Ashappa was involved in the elimination of some of the family members of Vijay Kumar and since then, Vijay Kumar had decided to eliminate Ashappa.
As per the plan, Vijay Kumar along with his men had planned to attack Ashappa and was monitoring his movements for the last few days. As the gram panchayat elections were nearing and Ashappa who was actively participating in the village elections, Vijay Kumar and his followers thought that this was the right time to hack Ashappa to death and accordingly, secured sickles and pistol. On January 9, they followed Ashappa, who was travelling in his car from Narayanpet to Mahbubnagar.
On reaching Marikal mandal, Ashappa along with his sister had stopped their car on the outskirts to have tea. Taking the advantage of this, Vijay Kumar and his followers suddenly attacked Ashappa on head and neck injuring him grievously and fled the scene.
Later, the locals with the help of ambulance shifted Ashappa to Mahbubnagar General Hospital for emergency treatment and a case was filed in Marikal police station.
Following which, SP Rema Rajeshwari had directed the Narayanpet police to form special teams immediately and ordered them to nab the culprits as soon as possible. On Monday, upon receiving credible information about the movements of Vijay Kumar and his followers, the police teams immediately swung into action and took into custody six persons of the 11 accused.
“We have made a big breakthrough by arresting six persons in the attempt to murder case. The police will soon nab the remaining five absconding persons very soon and submit them to the court,” said Rema Rajeshwari, while presenting the arrested persons before the media.
