LB Nagar: The lack of traffic officials to monitor the traffic has become a curse to the residents in the surrounding areas of LB Nagar. The illegal parking of heavy vehicles has been causing accidents and leading to frequent problems to the people for the past sometime. Especially, the sand lorries that are being parked on the main roads.
The loading and unloading of sand also takes place on the busy roads itself. The parking of lorries near Manda Mallamma Garden in Karmanghat has turned into a nightmare to the local residents here. Earlier, the traffic police raised challans and took action against the violators. But now, there is no police in the vicinity. Traffic patrolling has just been an eyewash.
The illegal parking has also become a hurdle to the prestigious Swachh survekshan programme. Sanitation Inspector Ganesh said that they were unable to maintain cleanliness due to the illegal parking of lorries. The sanitation staff asked the lorry drivers to remove the vehicles. But, they tried to attack the staff, the inspector lamented.
Due to unloading and loading, piles of sand remain on the main roads. There were also instances of accidents and some two-wheeler drivers even injured severely. Illegal parking of heavy vehicles at Manda Mallamma Junction, Phisalbanda Road, Auto Nagar, Chintal Kunta, Sagar Ring Road was posing life threat to the people.
Sai Nagar Association president Bhaskar Reddy demanded the authorities concerned to prevent illegal parking. When contacted, Vanasthalipuram Police officials said that they were taking action on it and charging challans based on photo ids.
