Peddamul: There are only two patriotic mass celebrations in the country, one is Republic Day and the other Independence Day, where people of all faiths take part enthusiastically. On these days, some of them wear tricolour badges in the morning and remove it by the evening. But ex-army man Vidyasagar always wears tricolour badge all the time.

Vidyasagar served Indian Army for 24 years and retired as hawaldar in 2012. He also took part in the famous Kargil war. Vidyasagar was always in the forefront in educating youngsters in the village on patriotism. When The Hans India contacted, he said that after retiring from the Indian Army, he started wearing the badge. In the beginning, some of the villagers looked in surprise at him. He explained to them the greatness of the country and the national flag.

He said he feels proud of being an Indian citizen while wearing it. He said that it gives new energy. Vidyasagar said that with the cooperation from parents, family members and villagers, he retired from the Indian Army which he served for 24 years, without any bad remark. He also said that in 2014 elections, he got elected as MPTC member from Peddamul. He called upon youngsters to keep away from bad habits and strive hard for self-development and nation’s progress with patriotic spirit.
