Musheerabad: Telangana Rythu Sangham president T Sagar said that protests would be staged across the nation protesting against the anti-farmer policies of the Central government. He was speaking at a protest jointly organised by Telanagna Rhythu Sangham and Telangana agriculture labour association organization at RTC Cross Roads on Friday. The members of both the organisations burnt the effigy of central government protesting against injustice done to farmers in the Central budget.
Speaking on the occasion, T Sagar alleged that the proposals in the budget to help farmers were only meant to deceive them. In last four and half years, BJP ignored agricultural labour and hopes that this budget would do justice to them were dashed, he said. A clear law to ensure support prices in the lines of Swaminathan recommendations and a law to exempt them free from loans as formulated by Kerala government should be formulated, he demanded.
A law also to ensure uniformity across the nation regarding land acquisition compensation under Land acquisition Act 2013 is also the need of the hour, he said. T Sagar warned of a nationwide agitation if the central government fails to bring necessary laws for the welfare of farmers. He alleged that the central government has deliberately weakened MGNREGA and therefore would strive to defeat BJP in the forthcoming Parliament elections. Among those who participated in the protest include B Venkat, DG Narsimha Rao, Venkata Ramulu, Prasad and others.
