After a series of programmes which included venues as varied as open, cultural spaces in all corners of the upmarket areas of Hyderabad (apart from a cultural event at Cherlapally Jail and five-star hotels) and annual functions in schools run by its wellwishers, Dakshin Dhwani is to continue its glorious run with its 31st programme ‘ Aisi Deewangee…’ to be held on Saturday, February 9 at Nritya Forum for Performing Arts, Banjara Hills.

‘This event is similar to the ones we have been having over the past two years to the extent that it pays tribute to all those legends whose birth/death anniversaries fall in February. Yet, we have tried to bring in more instrumental music and also a combination of ghazals and audio-visual clips to highlight the great work left behind for the later generations by the titans of yesteryears’ reveals Devarajan, the organiser of the event.

From writer-poet and local celebrity Maqdoom Mohiuddin, whose golden jubilee death anniversary falls in August this year, the list of Dakshin Dhwani would endeavour to reprise songs from works of icons like Ravindra Jain, Manmohan Desai, Nida Fazli, Naqsh Lyallpuri, Indeevar and many others like celebrated director Nasir Hussain. ‘ The attempt is to go retro without any holding back’ adds Devarajan.
