Sangareddy: The Telangana government is planning to sell the surplus crop yields to other states under its brand. As farmers are blessed with good yields this season, the state government is mulling to export the paddy. Sangareddy farmers have also played a crucial role in the production of excess crops yields. It is learned that the farmers received a whopping Rs 154 cr profit this year.Both the agriculture and industrial sectors give employment to the district, as it is near to the capital city.

Various heavy and medium size industries have been set up at Patancheru, Ameenpur, Ramchandrapuram, Jinnaram, and Zaheerabad. Nearly half of the population here does agriculture. The people of Andole, Pulkal, Sangareddy, Nyalkal, Kondapur, and Jharasangam are more dependent on agriculture. Except for Singur reservoirs, there are not many water bodies in the district.The people here have been utilising tanks, bore wells and lakes for the cultivation of paddy, cotton, jowar, and maze. Despite the low rainfall, the cultivation has increased in the area.


Kharif season of 2016-17 witnessed about 44, 072 metric tons of produce, while this year the yield has doubled. The District Rural Development Agencies (DRDA) and Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) set up 75 procurement centers to buy the yields from the farmers. The farmers received the money in their bank accounts within 72 hours.The officials said that they made sure that the farmers received the money before Pongal. They also added that the State government is planning to sell surplus crops to other states this year under the label, ‘Telangana Brand.’
