Suchitra Circle: The phase II project of the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) has been going on at a brisk pace at Suchitra Circle. The junction falls under the 18 km stretch from Sanathnagar to Moula Ali. The project has been saddled with the issue of acquiring defence land ever since the inception of the project in 2012. It requires a total of 65 acres of defence land to complete the project.
The bone of contention has been the 3.85 km defence land at Suchitra Centre and 0.2 km at Bhudevi Nagar-Ammuguda stretch. It may be noted that the central government had directed the Local Military Authority (LMA) to handover the land to MMTS.A senior official of Rail Vikas Nigam limited (RVNL), the implementing agency, said, “The Defence Ministry handed over the land in August last year.”
RVNL has given the contract to GMR infrastructure Ltd for the construction of a Foot over Bridge (FoB), platform and shed, said Manoj Padhi of GMR infrastructure Ltd. Once the MMTS project gets completed in this area, it will be a relief to the employees working in HITEC City, Madhapur, Gachibowli, and Manikonda. It will be a boon to the commuters staying around Old Bowenpally, Dairy Farm, Suchitra, Jeedimetla Village, NCL and Kompally. The stations in the line are Sanathnagar, Ferozguda, Neredmet, Bhudevi Nagar and Moulali.
The length of the doubling work is 3.5 km, and at present, the goods train services are continuing on a single track and once the doubling work is completed, the railway will run the MMTS. It will take another six months to complete, officials said.
