Ameerpet: The Metro Rail’s latest stretch to the Hi-Tec City will become a lifeline to Metro project itself as it will enable passengers to travel to three distinct places. Officials have increased efforts to make the service available to the public soon.Every day, thousands of employees and students travel to Hi-Tech City for jobs and attending interviews. As there is no proper transport system, they depend on private transport as bus services do not suffice.

As a result, traffic density keeps thickening on roads, with the result that there are frequent traffic jams and snarls. Commuters by the time they reach their destinations feel harried. In such times, a wait for a few minutes at traffic signals compounds their anxiety and travails as well. Commuters ardently hope that Metro service to Hi-Tec City would resolve their issues to a large extent.

Out of the 72-km-long elevated HRRL project, 46 km stretch has already been in use and the HMRL has earned the second spot in the country as the largest metro rail network after Delhi. Now, its official plan to complete the works on the 10-km stretch from Ameerpet to Hi-Tec City by February 15. Meanwhile, the stretch itself has been extended to Mind Space Junction and works are in full swing. Metro officials say works are proceeding at a scorching pace and hope to operationalise the stretch as soon as possible.

As part of the second phase, Metro line would be expanded up to Shamshabad airport. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) has also been submitted to Hyderabad Metro officials by Delhi Metro Rail Limited. This would be the longest Metro corridor in the city and state government is going to take a decision on construction of this route. Starting from Nagole, Metro will pass through Ameerpet, Hi-Tec City, Gachibowli and reach the airport, which covers almost 58 km. Officials said that this corridor would enable passengers from any remote place in the city to reach the airport at the earliest time.
