Keesara: District Collector MV Reddy inspected nursery in Ankireddy Palli panchayat on Tuesday. Expressing his displeasure at the officers and sarpanch over filling up pits with only soil, he said the target for every panchayat was to plant one lakh saplings.Reddy said the government had taken the scheme as a prestigious one and every villager should be given saplings of their choice as per the new Panchayat Raj act.
The Collector said it was sarpanch’s duty to make village green and protect saplings. He said saplings which were planted road side were getting dried up due to lack of water supply and directed DPO and DRDO to take action after field-level visit. Reddy advised officials to fill red soil in nursery bags and directed MPDO and panchayat secretary to grow saplings of villagers’ choice after forming Haritha Rakshaka Committees.DRDO Koutilya, DPO Ravi Kumar, DFO Sudhakar Reddy, Tahsildar Nagaraju, MPDO Shashirekha and others were present.
