Kothagudem: The Left parties, buoyed by the victory in the recently-concluded gram panchayat elections, are busy making strategies for contesting the Parliament polls, slated between April and May. In this regard, the party leaders are planning to strengthen the cadre.

It is learnt that with the Left parties winning in over 10 per cent of panchayats in the district recently, the party leaders are trying to join hands with other parties to contest the Lok Sabha polls.

Meanwhile, after the Assembly poll debacle, the CPI party is learnt to sever ties with Mahakutami and join hands with CPM for contesting the ensuing elections. However, the CPI party leaders stating that the decision lies with the State party leaders neither condemned the statement nor said anything in supportive of it.

Further, the CPI party leaders announced in a press conference that they would contest four Parliament segments, clearly indicating their willingness to pull out of Mahakutami.

Speaking to The Hans India, CPI State assistant secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said the party has been planning to contest four Lok Sabha seats in Telangana in the ensuing Parliament elections. Informing that a decision in that a direction has already been taken by the State party leadership, Kunamneni said the party is likely to field its candidates from Khammam, Mahabubabad, Nalgonda and Bhongir Parliament constituencies.

Regarding alliance, the CPI leader said that no decision has been taken in this regard so far. Stating that Narendra Modi has reduced his stature to a ‘gully leader’, Kunamneni said, “Modi who dubs himself as a clean person has played a murky role in Rafale fighter aircraft deal. It is sad that the PM’s office is involved in settling the deal.” The CPI leader expressed surprise at Comptroller and Auditor General’s clean chit to the Central government in the issue.
