Over 1.9 lakh new voters added; work at fast pace

Rangareddy: New voter applications are witnessing a surge in the district. As many as 1,90,212 members have enrolled their names for new voter registration. Officials received the applications till 3 February.Earlier, a lot of people availed of the chance given by the officials for enrollment before the 2018 Assembly elections.

There is a prediction of a rise in applications as Lok Sabha elections are nearing. It is learned that 37,874 applications have been received from Serilingampalli constituency. Ibrahimpatnam the number is 23,698, while it is 23,739 in LB Nagar, 12,091 in Chevella and 24,435 in Rajendranagar.
Officials have been scrutinised the applications for the last one month and so far identified 87,306 eligible applications.

They rejected 6,781 applications as they don’t fulfill the criteria. As many as 96,125 applications are pending before them. In the case of such applications, most are from Serilingampalli, Maheshwaram and LB Nagar. Officials have included almost 80,127 names, which are identified as eligible, in voter lists.

Scrutiny of the remaining applications will come to completion soon and would be included in voter list, officials said.S Harish, Joint Collector, said those who haven’t applied for new voter card or missed their names in voter lists can apply one week before Lok Sabha elections.
