Hyderabad: Malavath Poorna has become the world’s first youngest tribal woman to scale the four highest mountain peaks located in the four continents of the world.Speaking from the summit of Mt Aconcagua, Argentina, Poorna said, “My goal is to make the state of Telangana and India proud by becoming the youngest tribal woman in the world to scale the seven tallest mountain peaks across all the seven continents”.
Thanking Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his unwavering support and his vision for the overall development of marginalised girl students, their safety and their studies. Poorna sharing her experience as she conquered the Mt Aconcagua, the highest mountain peak in the Southern and Western Hemisphere on Friday, she said, “I cannot even describe how difficult the climb was, it was much difficult than the Mt Everest, but I resolved to go ahead with the mission.
The Swaeroes Ten Commandments taught me not to give up, no matter what the circumstances are.” She further remarked that for marginalised girls sky is the limit and they can achieve great deeds in life by defying the limits and recklessly imposed stereotypes.Ecstatic Poorna holding India’s tricolour atop the Mt. Now, I set my eyes on scaling the remaining three top peaks in the world, Mt Denali (North America), Vinson Massif (Antarctica) and Kosciuszko (Australia). Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary, TSWREIS, congratulated Poorna on her awe-inspiring and incredible mountaineering expeditions at a young age. What makes her feat unique is that she hails from a poor tribal community and her parents Laxmi and Devidas work as agricultural labourers in Pakala village of Nizamabad district.
Poorna has become a role model and source of inspiration for millions of marginalised girls throughout the world, he said. The pride of Telangana, Malavath Poorna, is currently pursuing her undergraduate studies at the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, Kamareddy. Noted Bollywood film director and producer Rahul Bose produced a film ‘Poorna, Courage Has No Limit’ based on the real-life story of an audacious mountaineer Poorna.
