Artist, art curator and historian Koeli Mukherjee Ghose conducted a two-day workshop alongside her exhibition of works ‘Threshold of Plunging’ at Alliance Francaise Hyderabad Gallery. The works will be on display till February 22. The workshop that had no age limit for the participants enabled them to learn how to work on their art skills. Koeli shares, “The workshop is like the beginning of a conversation.

I don’t want people to come and say ‘Oh God! She knows so much, and I don’t understand the art’. I do not want people to come and go with these feelings. Exhibition is not just to connect with skilled people, it is also to synergise the environment, which I would like to do. The workshop is clearly aimed at that.”

About how the she would be engaging with the people who come for the workshop she adds, “We will spend time with them and art and see what is calling out to us; if we see a form, we would help them to outline it. Most of my works are dialogues, sometimes I want to keep the work as it is and sometimes, I don’t want to, which becomes a dialogue and that’s how I gain clarity about my works.”

Mentioning about the techniques that were taught in the work shop she says, “We focused on techniques like Suminagashi, which is a Japanese technique of Marbelling and the second technique is to vishualise a form.” The art works that were done by people, who attended the workshop were colourful and innovative, and a great way to gain insights into art, especially for beginners.
