Of the 11 cabinet members just inducted, five are novices --Welfare minister K Eshwar, Panchayat Raj minister E Dayakar Rao, Roads & Buildings minister V Prashanth Reddy, Excise minister V Srinivas Goud and Labour Minister S Malla Reddy.
That is, they have become ministers for the first in their political career. Sources said that KCR gave the new ministers an overview of the functioning of the government and the execution of government-sponsored schemes from the Secretariat to the village level. The ministers have been advised to work hard in implementing schemes in their respective departments and stay clear of political controversies. They have been told to not allow opposition parties to make any allegations of corruption.
They were also advised to make themselves available to the people and address public grievances instantly. The Chief Minister asserted that coordination between ministers and officials will put an end to delay in the implementation of various schemes. He told the ministers that transparency and efficiency in the discharge of the duties would bring laurels to them and the state at the national level.
Prashanth Reddy, who has been given the Legislative Affairs portfolio, was asked to develop skills in floor management during the Assembly session. The Chief Minister instructed Excise Minister Srinivas Goud to keep a vigil on ID (illicitly distilled) liquor menace and NDP (non-duty paid liquor) smuggling from others states to Telangana. The state government has succeeded in curbing ID liquor (also called as gudumba) and liquor smuggling which helped to increase revenues from liquor sale.
KCR also discussed the issues pertaining to development of roads, panchayat raj works mainly Mission Bhagiratha and the status of welfare schemes that come under the jurisdiction of first-time ministers in his cabinet. State Health minister E Rajendar has been asked to work out a plan to promote the state as ‘Healthy Telangana’ in the future.
