King Kothi: Intellectual property rights needs awareness and ignorance is no excuse said Prof V Venkata Ramana, vice chairman of Telangana State Council of Higher Education. He was speaking at the one-day national seminar cum workshop on ‘Evolving prospective of intellectual property rights in global society’ held at St. Joseph’s Degree and PG College recently

The seminar was organised by Department of Mass Communication in collaboration with Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE).

Prof Venkata Ramana, said, “India is rich in knowledge but poor in filing patents.” He shared real life story of Padma Shri Chinthakindi Mallesham to show innovation is born out of necessity. He further said that the Telangana Government is taking innovation to every household providing a platform through a campaign Intinta Innovator.

Prof G B Reddy said “IPR is a continuous and evolving subject. India is not lagging behind. What is missing is India lacks the IP culture.” He further added, “IPR is a continuous and evolving subject. There is a misconception that IPR is related to lawyers and chartered accountants but IPR is applicable to everyone in this century of knowledge revolution. Knowledge is no more a free commodity with IPR coming into scene & Intellectual Property requires no qualification.”
The seminar also touched upon issues including capitalization of IPR, its violations and legal remedies.

Dr Akhila, Dr Mohan Krishna and other efficient faculty of Pendekanti Law College were present.
