Musheerabad: Several BC leaders met the National OBC Commission member Talloju Achari here on Monday to discuss various BC issues. Among those visited him include vice president of BC Welfare Association Gujja Krishna, BJP media in-charge Perika Suresh, BC JAC chairman Neeradi Bhoopesh Sagar, OBC Kalamandali chairman S Ramalingam, working president of BC students’ association R Naresh, chairman of three parliament cluster Prakash, Uday and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Gujja Krishna said that the representation of BCs in legislative bodies has not crossed 14 per cent even after 71 years of independence even though they constitute about 56 per cent of the total population. Number of BC employees has not crossed 7 per cent of total employees, he lamented. Despite their large numbers, a separate central ministry is not allocated for BC welfare in the independent India, he said. He demanded that creamy layer be removed in BC reservations given in education and employment. It is time that Parliament passes a bill to provide 50 per cent reservations to BCs, he said. He further demanded that a fee reimbursement scheme be introduced at the national level for BCs. Krishna urged the central government to categorize BCs into eight different categories and form a BC subplan with Rs 1 lakh crore funds.
