In a gruesome road accident, eight people were killed and five others suffered injuries when a TATA Ace vehicle they were travelling in rammed into an RTC bus after one of its tyres burst at Chennaram village of Kondamallepally mandal in the district on Wednesday
Kondamallepally (Nalgonda): In a gruesome road accident, eight people were killed and five others suffered injuries when a TATA Ace vehicle they were travelling in rammed into an RTC bus after one of its tyres burst at Chennaram village of Kondamallepally mandal in the district on Wednesday.
The incident took place at 1.45 pm when the TATA ace vehicle which was heading towards Konda Mallepally from Hyderabad hit the bus coming in the opposite direction.
Of the seven persons died on the spot, five persons were identified as K Mahesh (40) of Angadipet of Chandur mandal, N Venkatesh (40) of Konda Mallepally, B Goverdhan of Mallareddypally, Ramulamma of Konda Mallepally in the district and Srikanth (28) of Hyderabad. The names of other two deceased are yet to be known. Further, one more person, Balaji Rao of Pebbair of Wanaparthy district, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, all the severely injured passengers were shifted to Hyderabad for treatment, while the dead bodies were shifted to government hospital in Devarakonda for post-mortem.
After learning about the incident, Mallepally SI Srinu Naik and Devarakonda rural CI Venkateshwarlu rushed to the spot and participated in the rescue operation. In the mishap, none of the passengers of the RTC bus was hurt. However, the front portion of the bus was damaged due to impact of the accident.
Devarakonda MLA Ramavath Ravindra Kumar, RDO Lingya Naik visited the hospital and consoled the bereaved family members. Meanwhile, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy expressed their shock over the incident and assured all help to the bereaved family members. The Education Minister directed the officials concerned to provide best treatment to the injured persons.
