Kothagudem: Singareni Contract Karimikha Sangham under the aegis of Centre for Indian Trade Unions has staged a protest in front of the company’s office here in Kothagudem on Wednesday. The protest was led by the CITU State general secretary B Madhu and vice-president Y Krishanaiah.

Addressing the protestors, Madhu said the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) was not solving the issues of contract workers despites working giving several pleas.

He demanded the company to recognise the workers of coal handling plants, underground section and belt cleaning section as skilled workers and pay the salaries on par with regular staff of the company.

He asked the management to immediately provide uniforms and other allowances to the contract workers. He also threatened of intensifying the protest if the issues of contract workers are not solved.

After the three-hour protest, the agitators submitted a representation to company’s General Manager A Anand Rao and Civil Deputy General Manger KSN Prasad.

Leaders of the Sangham B Tirupathy, S Illaiah, Prabhakar, Praveen, Kranthi Kishore, Veeresh Raju, P Sudhakar, Jhansingh, Ramaswamy, Ramesh, Lingaiah, Tirupathi, Srinivas and others took part in the protest.
