Vikarabad: International Women’s Day would be meaningful when women are given due respect in family and society, said District Collector Masrat Khanam Aisha while celebrating Women’s Day at the Collectorate here on Friday.

Stressing that women are not inferior to men, Aisha said women perform their roles passionately and are ahead of men in several fields. She advised women to take proper care of their health.
The Collector informed that they facilitated loans of Rs 50 crore through Stree Nidhi and Rs 166 crore to women unions by ensuring bank linkages.

MLA Dr Metuku Anand said women are not weak but are strong, and advised them to excel in all fields. He said women should not be neglected as there is a need of change in society. Joint Collector Aruna Kumari said that women should be given priority in society. Municipal Chairman Satyanarayana, ZPTC M Sharif, MPP Bhagyalakshmi, child welfare officer Jyoshna, DEO Renuka Devi, BC welfare officer Pushpalatha, RTO Dr Vani, district women union president Indira, members of various women unions, Anganwadi teachers and others were present.
