Hyderabad: Home Minister Mahmood Ali and Nizambad MP Kavitha on Friday inaugurated the women safety wing building at Lakdikapul near DGP office. Keeping women and child safety in mind, the Telangana police took up many initiatives like SHE teams, Bharosa centre, Hawk eye and many more.

The main role of women safety wing is to co-ordinate with SHE teams, monitoring the performance of Bharosa centres, Hawk Eye applications, operation Muskan and monitoring cases filed under POCSO Act. Addressing the gathering, Director General of Police Mahendar Reddy said, “I firstly congratulate Swathi Lakra, IGP, for taking the in charge for the women safety and SHE teams, which has been also followed by other States, Bharosa centres also rehabilitates the victims.”

He also said Telangana government was appreciated by many for the implementation of women safety measures. Any type of complaint regarding women safety, will be resolved within short time, he added.

Home Minister Mahmood Ali said government took women safety as main agenda and police has being administering according the same, the State police also initiated friendly policing which resulted in the reduction of crime rate in the State, Swathi Lakra had bought confidence among women that they are absolutely safe in the city and State.

Nizambad MP Kavitha applauded the police for ensuring women safety in the city and State. She said in the country 50 per cent are women and another 50 per cent are relied on women. She said government and police are trying their level best to eliminate social evils like domestic violence, dowry and other crimes on women. She also recalled that the government had allocated Rs 2 to Rs 3 crore for construction of the building and urged the public to install the HAWK EYE application in their mobile phones and help the police in ensuring women safety.

Hyderabad Commissioner of police Anjani Kumar said even the Telangana State is a start-up State.
It has brought a confidence in women that they are safe. He said Hyderabad is the safest city in the country according to a survey, the city is rated as the safest in the country, women’s day is a celebration for all and everyone has a collective responsibility towards women safety and women empowerment.
