The office-bearers of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce had tough time in resolving the dispute between hotshot star Ram and leading producer Bellamkonda Suresh for the last few days.

After producers’ council and movie artistes union, the dispute finally reached the apex body for settlement, as both the parties stuck to their guns.

Producer Bellamkonda has been demanding actor Ram to return the advance amount of Rs 1.5 cr he paid to him for another film after ‘Kandireega’. “Suresh signed up Ram for a big ticket film with director Santhosh Srinivas after the success of ‘Kandireega’ but later due to some differences, Suresh moved on to the next project with Jr NTR, so he was asking the actor to return it now,” says a source in the chamber.

However, Ram claimed that the he had wasted two or three months waiting for the project with Suresh to take-off, hence he doesn’t need to return the amount. However, with Bellamkonda Suresh and Ram sticking to their guns, the top office-bearers of apex body had to step in and resolve it, since Ram’s next and much-awaited film ‘Unnadi Okate Zindagi, is set for release on Nov 3.

“After various rounds of discussions with Bellamkonda and Sravanthi Ravi Kishore(producer and Ram’s uncle), the chamber asked Ram to return the amount to avoid any hiccups to his new film, hence the matter was settled amicably,” adds the source.

Actually, Ram had a reason for declining to repay since 60 to 70 days were wasted for the project because he kept those dates unused, instead of allotting them to another film. While Bellamkonda Suresh argued that as he didn’t make the film and was entitled for the refund of the advance amount. “Producers should pay advance amount only if they are sure of making their film, to avoid such disputes in future,” the source concludes.
