Brahmanandam gets Ghantasala award

Vizianagaram: The late playback singer Ghantasala Venkateshwar Rao was a divine singer who combined a melodious voice with good lyrics, said comedian Brahmanandam here on Sunday. A To be felicitated in his name was a great honour. Although the artiste was surprised at being felicitated, as he was not a singer, he was happy to receive the award. Brahmanandam was the chief guest at the inauguration of the Ghantasala Music College. He observed that only a few could appreciate art and culture. The area where Ghantasala moved was truly blessed.A He said it was apt to open a college in the district which is a store house of culture and arts. He urged the college management to nurture the late singer's ideals. District Collector Veerabrahmaiah, Nellimerla MLA Boddukonda Appala Naidu, Chenumalla Venkataramana, AIMS Educational Institute Representative Anand and Ghatasala's son Ratnakumar were present.
