Warangal: The city Congress leaders have demanded the State government initiation of urgent measures for improving the quality of medical services at MGM Hospital, CKM Hospital and Government Eye Hospital in the city.
The city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari and several activists have visited CKM Hospital in Warangal on Wednesday and interacted with the patients, who complained about the negligence of the doctors in treating them.
Three women, who undergone caesarean at the hospital, have suffered from bleeding on Tuesday as the doctors have failed to properly stitch the incision after surgery. The CKM hospital staff reportedly left the women - G Rama Devi, S Kousalya and Bhavani – outside MGMH.
The doctors and attendants abused them when questioned about their negligence, the patients told the Congress leader. Referring to the incident, Srihari demanded the hospital authorities to suspend the erring doctors and staff.
Similarly, he wanted the authorities at Government Eye Hospital to initiate action against the contractor supplying food to patients in hospital. The contractor was closely associated with higher ups and hence neglecting his responsibilities, he alleged.
The complaints by patients that they were not being supplied food in a proper manner were not being attended. The patients coming for eye surgeries should be given breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food quality and menu were not as per rules, he rued.
The MGM Hospital, which was said to be life line for lakhs of people in Warangal and neigbouring districts, was marred by shortage of staff. Being run under the control of in-charges the hospital administration has lost the track, Srihari alleged.
The Congress leaders staged a demonstration at the hospital and later met the in-charge Superintendent Dr B Karunakar Reddy and questioned about the lack of medicines at the hospital. During which heated arguments ensued between the Congress leader and the superintendent.
Speaking to press persons on the occasion, Srihari warned that the party would take up serious agitations if the government failed to take immediate steps to address the problems at the above hospitals.he party leaders M Vinod Kumar, M Sarangapani, Md Ayub and others were present.
