Sircilla: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development KT Rama Rao said that the government is concerned about the welfare of the poor cutting across all religions.

Distributing clothes to Christian families of below poverty line, as part of the government’s initiative, here on Monday, KTR said that the government’s Christmas festival support scheme indicates Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s concern towards the poor.

“All the welfare schemes introduced in the State shows the commitment of the government,” KTR said, referring to the success of Kalyana Laxmi and Shaadi Mubarak initiatives. He asserted that the government’s endeavours will continue for the uplift of downtrodden people.

District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar said the government is distributing clothes to 1,000 poor Christian families. Rs 2 lakh have been earmarked exclusively for the Christmas feast dinner, he added.

Earlier, a prayer meeting was conducted. The Minister cut the cake on the occasion. In another programme, KTR launched a WhatsApp helpline (7997555511) for reporting crimes. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed hope that Rajanna-Sircilla district police will create a niche for itself in State by reaching out the people.

Superintendent of Police Viswajit Kampati, TSCAB chairperson Konduri Ravinder, Municipal Chairperson Pavani and Joint Collector Sheikh Yasmeen Basha were among others present.
