Hanamkonda: The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, has been neglecting the interests of TSRTC employees, alleged TSRTC Employees Union (EU) honorary president Naini Rajender Reddy.

He said the CM has made lot of promises for the development of the Road Transport Corporation but failed to deliver them. The government assured to give salary for the duration of Sakala Janula Sammme to the employees.

The Singerani and government employees were given salary for the strike period but the RTC employees were yet to receive the salary, said Rajender Reddy, who is also the district Congress president. Speaking to press persons here on Wednesday, he complained that the CM was plotting to privatise the corporation.

During the last two and half years, the government has not made a single new appointment. The promise of regularising the contract workers was still to be materialised, he said while reminding that the previous Congress government has regularised around 25,000 contract workers.

If a person working in a sanctioned post was retired he was again being appointed on consolidated wage. This would affect the employment chances of uneducated youth, Rajender Reddy said demanding the government immediately fill up vacant posts.

He complained that when the state of affairs in the RTC were much against the workers welfare, the recognised employees union TMU has failed to put pressure

on the government to address their issues.Employees Union president ES Babu and general secretary K Raji Reddy felt that the purpose of achieving separate Telangana was defeated as the RTC workers have not gained anything in terms of their welfare.

They wanted leave encashment dues pending for the period 2012-2016, allocation of Rs 1,000 crore budget every year to RTC, replacing 3,000 outdated buses with new ones and filling up all vacant posts.

The EU was planning to launch series of agitations to put pressure on the government to address various pending issues of the RTC workers. Gate meetings and dharnas would be held at all depots on January 3 followed by ‘Chalo RM office’ agitation on January 7 next year.

If the government fails to respond, agitations would be intensified, they warned. On the day a regional reconstruction meeting of the TSRTC EU affiliated to the AITUC was held and it was attended by the union leaders across the State.

EU state secretary E Venkanna, AITUC general secretary P Prasad, city Congress president K Srinivas, PCC secretary EV Srnivasa Rao and others were present.
