Govt keen on developing human resources: Kadiyam Srihari

Earlier governments in the State and at the Centre have neglected development of human resources. But the Telangana government is giving impetus to human resource development by initiating several measures are being taken to strengthen state-run educational institutions, he said.
He addressed a gathering of teachers and officials at Teachers’ Day celebrations held here on Tuesday commemorating the birth anniversary of former President of India late Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a celebrated academic taught at Chennai's Presidency College and others.
Because of the negligence of successive governments towards state-run schools and colleges, public have started patronising private institutions, the Deputy CM said. The State government has taken up the task of developing infrastructure at government schools and colleges.
As part of the efforts in strengthening the institutions, 525 Gurukuls were sanctioned in the State. Nearly 16,000 teachers would be appointed to teach at the Gurukuls to impart quality education. The teachers should also play their role in boosting the public trust in government schools and colleges, Srihari noted.
“Since the field of education is neglected over the past several decades, it would take at least 5 to 10 years’ time to get expected results from the efforts being put forth by the State government. Both the teachers and the parents have to extend their cooperation to the work being done by the government,” he added.
The Deputy CM, who holds education portfolio, stated that from the next year onwards the teachers need not apply for the ‘Best Teacher Awards’. The awards would be presented by evaluating the functioning and skills of the teachers.
ZP chairperson G Padma, MP P Dayakar, Warangal rural district collector Prashanth J Patil, joint collector S Dayanand, TS Sheep and Goat Development Corporation chairman K Rajaiah Yadav, Agros chairman L Kishan Rao, Warangal urban district educational officer S Srinivasa Chary and others were present.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to teachers selected as ‘Best Teachers’.
