The prohibition and excise department officials in erstwhile Warangal district are gearing for the leasing of retail liquor shops for the period 2018-19. With the State government releasing notification inviting applications for leasing the shops, the official mechanism on Wednesday began the process of listing out slabs and making arrangements to receive the applications.

The Deputy Commissioner (Prohibition And Excise) Suresh Rathod told presspersons in Hanamkonda on the day, there are a total of 59 shops notified in Warangal urban district. 49 shops fall under Rs 85 lakh slab and 10 shops under Rs 45 lakh slab.
Beginning from Wednesday, the applications would be received till September 19. For Warangal Urban, the applications have to be submitted at excise superintendent office at Housing Board Colony in Hanamkonda from 10.30 am to 5 pm. The draw of lots would take place on September 22 at Reddy Function Hall in Hanamkonda.
The applications could also be submitted at Abkari Bhavan in Hyderabad. This time the government has planned to install CCTVs at liquor shops to ensure effective monitoring, he added. To cash in tourist flow to Bogatha falls one more liquor shop allocated to Vajedu mandal.
In Jayashankar Bhupalapally district, five new liquor shops would come up during the current period of lease. At present, there are 50 wine shops in the district. 41 are located in the rural areas and nine are in Bhupalapally town. According to officials, there is a liquor shop in Dharmaram village in Wajeedu mandal.
As flow of tourists has been increasing to Bogatha waterfalls, the excise department decided to allocate one more shop at mandal headquarters. Under Rs 45 lakhs slab, there are 46 wine shops while nine shops in urban areas fall under Rs 55 lakh slab. The new lease period comes into effect from on October 1 this year will end on September 20, 2019.
