Warangal: A massive protest rally was taken out by the district Congress leaders and workers here on Monday, demanding immediate steps to establish Railway Coach Factory in Kazipet. The rally was taken out from Kazipet to Warangal urban district collectorate was led by the District Congress Committee president N Rajender Reddy. The city Congress president K Srinivas Rao, TPCC general secretary N Srinivas and secretary E V Srinivas Rao, ex-MLAs Seetakka, V Narender Reddy and P Veeraiah took part in the rally.

The leaders were arrested by the police before they could reach the collectorate and were taken to Subebari police station. However, a group of workers managed to reach the collectorate and staged dharna. Speaking to presspersons on the occasion, Rajender Reddy accused the TRS government of neglecting the projects sanctioned during Congress regime. Congress government sanctioned the coach factory as part of AP Reorganisation Act suggesting setting up the factory within six months of AP Bifurcation.

But the NDA government led by BJP, at the Centre and the TRS government in the State have both failed to take up any measures in that direction causing grave injustice to the locals. The railway coach factory would ensure development and employment to local youth.

Hence the State and Central governments must initiate urgent steps to establish the coach factory; Rajender Reddy demanded adding that there was no progress in setting up periodical overhauling shed that was sanctioned to Kazipet one year ago.

Similarly, Congress government promised to establish railway wagon manufacturing and repairing unit at Madikonda and released Rs 18 crore and acquired 53 acres for the purpose. But it was cancelled after 2014 elections due to the negligent attitude of the TRS regime, he alleged.

The TRS party leaders during separate Telangana movement demanded Kazipet railway division were now maintaining silence on the issue. Public and trade union leaders in the district should join hands with Congress in fighting for the cause of railway coach factory in Kazipet, he said.
