Hanamkonda: The State government was contemplating to offer laptops to differently abled persons in the days to come to boost their employability, informed Warangal (West) MLA D Vinay Bhasker. The MLA along with Telangana State Handicapped Development Corporation Chairman K Vasudeva Reddy, and KUDA Chairman M Yadava Reddy has launched the district-level physically challenged persons’ sports meet at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Hanamkonda on Friday.

Addressing the gathering, he said the government, besides tri-cycles, was planning to provide laptops and mobile phones to physically challenged persons in order to support their livelihood activities, depending on their educational standards. He accused the previous government of neglecting the development of physically challenged persons. But the TRS has been making all efforts to support differently abled persons.

Several programmes have been designed and being implemented by the government with humanitarian approach towards the physically challenged persons. As part of which the district-level sports meets have been conducted in all the districts of Telangana to serve so as to boost their morale, the MLA said.

The State Handicapped Development Corporation Chairman Vasudeva Reddy stated that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao wants the physically challenged persons to live with dignity and self-respect. The Corporation has been coming up with several programmes in that direction. The district-level sports meets were being conducted in the wake of International Disabled Day to be observed on December 3.

Those excelled at district-level sports meet would be selected for State-level sports meet to be held in Hyderabad soon, he noted. He reminded that recently the State government has distributed motor bikes to 500 persons. He appealed the physically challenged persons to give up inferiority complex and make use of government welfare programmes to progress in their lives.
