Huzurabad: Transport facility will be arranged for the students studying in Government Degree College located at K C Camp in Huzurabad, assured Finance Minister Eatala Rajender.
Along with District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, the Minister made surprise visit to the Government Degree College here on Tuesday and inspected the library hall and laboratory in the college.
The College Principal, Jay Prakash, explained the hardships faced by the students to come to the college, which is located far from the town, due to lack of transport facilities. This resulted in a drastic decrease of the students’ strength for the past few years.
Remembering the past glory of the college that provided quality education to many students and lamenting at the present situation, Eatala told the College Principal to arrange a meeting with the people and officials for developing the college. Later steps would be taken for shifting of college to the town, he assured. The Minister assured that transport facility will be provided for the students after talking to the RTC officials.
Eatala said that mid-day meals would be provided to college students also from this academic year. The students and the staff must keep the college surroundings and premises neat and clean. They were also told to participate in Haritha Haram programme by planting saplings along with removing weeds grown in the college premises.
The Minister advised the College Principal to conduct a meeting with the parents of the students for increasing the strength to about 1,000 in the next academic year. Rural Development Officer Chennaiah was present along with others.
