Narsampet: The police arrested six persons in connection witha case of forcible child marriages in Kesamudrammandalin the district on Monday. The accused were identified as BanothBicha Naik, hailing from Gotlakonda Thanda of Nekkondamandal, the prime accused in the case, and his accomplices - Banoth Sriram, Vankudoth Ramesh, Tejavath Sriram, Banoth Kalyani and VankudothShanker. The othersbelonged to Etigadda Thanda of Mahabubabad.

According to Narsampet ACP Sunitha Mohan, two 50-year-old persons from Rajasthan came to Narsampet to marry girls.BanothBicha Naik, a ward member of Gotlakonda gram panchayat, hadarranged the marriage of two minor girls with the two Rajasthani men at a park in Enugurthy of Kesamudrammandal on November 17.

It came to know that one of the girls opposed to marry an elderly man. The issue came to the police’ notice on November 23 as the father of the girl, who opposed the marriage, informed the police about the pressure being put forth by the Rajasthani man to convince her for marriage.

The local police booked a case against Bicha Naik on last Friday (November 24). ACP Sunitha Mohan told presspersons on Monday that special teams were formed to find the whereabouts of the absconding aged persons.
