Addressing the gathering, the Collector said the administration in a bid to help farming community has dispensed 13.62 tonnes of seed on 50 per cent subsidy with an outlay of Rs 1.25 crore. This apart, Rs 9.49 crore had been allocated to encourage mechanised agriculture in the district, he added.
Under Fasal Bhima Yojna, the government provided a compensation of Rs 6.20 crore to farmers for the 2014-15 and 2015-16, he said. He said the administration is trying to create awareness about the benefits of organic farming among the farmers.
The government purchased 1.47 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy worth Rs 234 crore through 179 procurement centres, he said. Collector said in addition to present 57,000 MT capacity godown facility, construction of godowns that could accommodate another 32,000 MT is under progress.
The administration conducted a 100-day special drive for the purification of land records and the new passbooks will be distributed from March 11, the Collector said. So far in three phases, the government sanctioned restoration of 722 tanks under Mission Kakatiya. Of which, 396 tanks were restored, Sarfaraz said.
Stating that Mission Bhagiratha works are in full swing, he said the works of three water treatment plants and laying of pipeline to the extent of 959 kms were completed. “Efforts are on to provide drinking water to all households in the district by June,” he asserted.
On education front, the Collector said they have chalked out a plan to achieve cent per cent results in SSC. Referring to the housing scheme, he said the construction of 229 double bedroom houses is completed. Of the total 6,454 sanctioned, 1,102 are under construction while 2,870 are in agreement stage, he added. He also listed out the development activities underway in the district.
Meanwhile, Karimnagar Municipal Corporation was adjudged the best tableau in this year’s Republic Day parade while Revenue and Rural Development tableaus finished second and third. Agriculture, Welfare (Old age and Disabled) and Animal Husbandry wings received consolation prizes.
