She said nurses, who cares and serves the ailing persons with great love and affection, are offered great esteem by the society. Their services are the key for a patient to recover fast, hence the nurses should always have patience and dedication towards their duties.

Christian addressed a gathering of nurses at St Ann’s School of Nursing and St Ann’s Nursing College at Fathima Nagar in Kazipet, where International Nurses Day celebrations were conducted on Tuesday.

In recent times the medical field has been inundated technological inventions aiming to improve quality. Nurses should improve their skills and keep themselves abreast with the latest technology in their field of service to serve the society in an effective manner, the DLSA secretary said.

Saying that nurses play crucial role in the field of medical services, she noted that without their committed efforts, the medical services would go off beam affecting the needy. “You should engage in book reading and attend conferences-seminars in your field to enrich your knowledge,” Christian added.

“We could not imagine a world without nurses. The patronage of the profession relies on your efficiency. You should inspire more students to choose this profession which is both noble and respectable,” she noted.

The Nursing College principal Sister Thomas Amma, the School of Nursing principal Sister Amala, sisters Paulin and Chandra took part in the programme along with 350 nursing students.
