Adilabad: The Adilabad police on Sunday arrested five persons for allegedly running a fake job racket and duping unemployed youth to the tune of Rs 55 lakh. Addressing a press conference here, the town DSP K Narsimha Reddy said that prime accused in the racket, Taher Ahmad Pasha of Hyderabad, employed Syed Ahmad as the in-charge of Adilabad district for his Four Square Techno Marketing Private Limited last year.

Syed Ahmad was told to dupe gullible youth in the name of providing jobs in post offices as part of Digital India programme. Since then he collected money ranging between Rs 20,000 and Rs 70,000 from the unemployed youth. He also engaged sub-agents in the region to dupe the youth.

Following a tip-off that the fake consultancy was conducting interviews on April 6, the Superintendent of Police Vishnu S Warrier had directed the Rural Inspector A Pradeep Kumar to nab the accused.During the raid, the police arrested Syed Ahmad, MA Azeem, Birkurvar Rakesh of the town, MA Azeez and MA Mukhit of Jagtial, and seized three laptops from them.

The police said that the gang so far duped around 500 youths and made of around Rs 55 lakh in erstwhile Adilabad district. On the occasion, the DSP urged the people not to fall prey to such forces.
