Warangal: Dispelling doubts over impact of current cash crunch in banks on crop investment support scheme of Telangana government, the Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari said, an amount of Rs 6,000 crore has been released to the banks.
State government held talks with Centre and Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Of the Rs 12,000 cores allocated for the scheme in the budget Rs 6000 crore was deposited in the banks in the first phase.
Hence the farmers need not worry about the cash payments, he said. The bankers were also directed to pay cash immediately after farmers deposit their cheques and financial input of Rs 4,000 per acre in banks, the Deputy Chief Minister informed addressing a gathering of Farmer Coordination Committees (FCC) members of Warangal urban and rural districts on Thursday.
The meeting was organised to create awareness on Rythu Bandhu Scheme (RBS) ahead of its launch scheduled on May 10. Srihari wanted the District Collectors to monitor payment of cash by banks and asked FCC members to see that every eligible farmer collects cash cheques and pattadar passbooks
He told the FCC members that RBS was a great opportunity for them to prove themselves by ensuring smooth distribution of the pattadar passbooks and cash cheques financial input of Rs 4,000 per acre twice in a year under RBS.
Srihari further said, a total of 2.40 crore acres land available in the State, of which about 1.43 crore acres of land identified as agriculture land. The titles of nearly 1.27 lakh acres were clear. A total of 72 lakh farmers are practicing cultivation in the land.
In the first phase, a total of 60 lakh farmers falling under category-A will be given cheques. The remaining 16 lakh farmers will be given the passbooks after clearing the ownership issues, he explained. Describing Rythu Bandhu Scheme as a unique one in the country, Srihari said the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao came up with scheme to empower farmers. The scheme would greatly help small and marginal farmers who depend on money lenders for loans and often subjected to exploitation.
Warangal rural District Collector M Haritha informed that there were 230 villages with 1,68,017 farmers holding 3,18,982 acres land. A total of Rs 127.59 crore will be distributed in cheques. About 25,000 farmers were yet to submit their Aadhaar card details.
Warangal urban District Collector Amrapali Kata said there were 124 villages of which the scheme will be implemented in 119 villages as the remaining villages were in urbanisation. Passbooks related to 85 villagers were already received.
ZP chairperson G Padma, MLAs A Ramesh, T Rajaiah and Ch Dharma Reddy; FCC District Coordinators M Bikshapathi and Lalitha Yadav and others were present.
