Launching the celebrations, the IRCS chairman Dr P Vijay Chander Reddy hoisted the Red Cross flag, cut a cake and offered homage to a portrait of Jean Henry Dunant, Red Cross Movement founder.
It was followed by launching of Senior Citizens’ Clinic by Warangal Commissioner of Police V Ravinder in the presence of IRCS vice-chairman Dr K Sudhakar Reddy, its state managing committee member EV Srinivas Rao, treasurer M Nagaiah and others.
Later, addressing the gathering, District Collector and IRCS president Amrapali Kata appreciated the service activities, especially free blood transfusion to Thalassaemia patients by the IRCS. She wanted the society to expand its services reaching out the unreached.
She also lauded the society office bearers for motivating young donors by organising blood donation camps, which were helping to cater the needs of patients facing emergency medical conditions.
Commissioner of Police Ravinder wanted the IRCS members to draw inspiration from Jean Henry Dunant, in serving the society. Police department would offer all possible help to the IRCS in carrying its activities, he promised.
On the occasion, financial assistance of Rs 10,000 each was given to three families, whose houses were damaged during the recent thunderstorms. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the organisers of blood donation camps.
Special commendation was given to Mahabubabad police, who collected highest number of 634 units of blood with their blood donation camps. Additional SP Ravula Giridhar received the citation.
The IRCS district managing committee members P Srinivas Rao, J Purushotham, PV Narayana Goud, B Hariprasad, B Papi Reddy, Dr T Vijaya Lakshmi and Ch Jayasri, medical officers M Ramkishan, G Prabhakar Rao, CWC chairperson K Anitha Reddy, SVS Group of Institutions chairman E Tirumal Rao, IRCS ex-officio members, TNGOs state president K Ravinder Reddy, its leaders P Subba Rao, K Rajesh Goud, TGOs leader A Jaganmohan Rao and others were present.
