Congress to gear up for Panchayat elections

Warangal: The district Congress unit has been gearing up for the Gram Panchayat and municipal elections which were set to be held in a couple of months.

The party district leadership has constituted committee for all the 12 Assembly constituencies. Sitting MLAs and those who lost the last Assembly elections were made in-charges of respective constituencies along with the senior workers who were made members of the team.

The new committees and its members would be touring their respective constituencies to strengthen the party at the grassroots level. They were also asked to publicise the government welfare programmes among the public, informed the district Congress committee (DCC) president Donthi Madhava Reddy.

He said along with the committees, coordinators at constituency level were also appointed to streamline the party affairs. A meeting of the newly appointed committee members and coordinators would be held in the district head quarters to devise a plan of action. Similarly the meetings would also be conducted at constituency level.

Madhava Reddy said it was decided to constitute new bodies village level and ward level committees in the district.
